T&D Industry Demo

Oil & Gas: Refining

Oil & gas industry demo monitoring assets spread over a larger geographic area and grouped by refinery. This is a great example of a simple management scenario tracking overall performance of sites with less that 70 total KPIs. Also shows the use of a custom logo in the upper right corner.

Recommended profile(s): Executive; Refinery Manager
Data sources: OSIsoft PI, manual data entry

Refining Industry Demo

Oil & Gas: Upstream / Exploration

Upstream oil & gas industry demo monitoring assets spread over a larger geographic area and grouped by refinery. This is a great example of a simple management scenario tracking overall performance of sites with less that 70 total KPIs. It is also an example of using SSL for secure communication (https://).

Recommended profile(s): Executive
Data sources: OSIsoft PI, manual data entry

Oil & Gas: Pipeline

Oil & gas pipeline industry demo monitoring assets spread over a larger geographic area and grouped by refinery. This demo is modeled after Alyeska Pipeline (the Trans-Alaska pipeline). You can see a video case study here. This demo is a great example of proactive maintenance, remote troubleshooting, optimized use of subject-matter expertise and early event detection.

Recommended profile(s): Trans-Alaska (Oil Pipeline); Global Ops (Gas Pipeline); NE Transmission (Gas)
Data sources: OSIsoft PI, Microsoft Excel, and manual data entry

Mining: Open Pit, Truck Fleet, Underground, Ports, Drilling and Dust Compliance

This is really many demos rolled into one. We grouped many scenarios into a single set of groups and have custom profiles (dashboards & watch lists) for each scenario. This demo was defined by some of the worlds leading mining operations experts (www.pipint.com), and it shows many facets of most mining sub-categories with very simplified status options (good or bad only) and the sparklines feature turned off. The best way to interact with it is to change profiles (using the gear icon in the upper right of the page when looking at the dashboard).

Recommended profile(s): General Manager; Superintendent (simple); Supervisor; Site Manager; Truck Driver (very simple); Environmental (dust); Drilling GM (underground drilling); Open Pit
Data sources: OSIsoft PI, Microsoft SQL Server, Excel, manual data entry and JSON web services (weather data)

Telecommunications

Here is a generic Telco industry demo that features a lot of KPIs from across an entire telecommunications business, such as net promoter score, customer churn, revenue by customer type, etc. We also have customers monitoring networks, data centers, satellites and even customer experience at the edge. Contact us if you want to know more.

IT Operations / Data Centers / Cloud

This demo was originally created for a customer that now users more than 40 data sources with Visual KPI across 20+ data centers. Unlike many of our customers that use industrial data sources, this customer is using a plethora of legacy and modern IT applications for monitoring backups, replication and more. This demo just gives a small taste, but hopefully a delicious one.

Recommended profile(s): CIO; Primary DC
Data sources: Microsoft SQL Server, OSIsoft PI and manual data entry

Visual KPI Data Center Monitoring

Construction Productivity

For this demo, we are monitoring critical rate and readiness KPIs for multiple types of large construction projects. It combines multiple examples from Australia and New Zealand with some random GeoMaps from Dubai just for fun. We now offer Gantt charts too.

Recommended profile(s): Project Director; Project Manager
Data sources: OSIsoft PI and manual data entry

Bold and Obvious. This is a demo covering a fictitious manufacturing scenario, which includes multiple sites around the US. It also shows some great executive level categories like safety, finance, production, supply chain, and logistics.

Recommended profile(s): Executive
Data sources: Microsoft SQL Server, OSIsoft PI and manual data entry

Smart Meter Rollout

This demo highlights KPI related to the deployment of smart meters organized by geography and meter type. There are also dedicated groups of KPIs for deployment success (and failures), data delivery and daily/weekly/monthly/YTD summary metrics. Because it is monitored much like a construction project, this demo is currently a subset of the Construction Productivity demo (but with its own dashboard).

Recommended profile(s): Smart Meter
Data sources: Microsoft Excel, OSIsoft PI and manual data entry

Building Management

Here is a demo where we are managing a small campus of buildings, including HVAC, safety, security and environmental factors. This is anonymous (but live) data but based on an actual customer of ours where we also handle FDD (fault detection & diagnostics) along with other interesting applications.

Recommended profile(s): Building Mgt
Data sources: OSIsoft PI and manual data entry

Life Sciences / Biotech

For this demo, we are monitoring real-time historian data (OSIsoft PI in this case) related to batches across multiple sites and units. It shows multiple batch-centric KPIs and also highlights the watchlist directly placed on the dashboard (profile: Boston).

Recommended profile(s): Boston

A Real Live Customer! (Christchurch, NZ)

ok, enough with the fake demos. Here is a live customer that has a live production site that is available to the general public via a special license. In this case, they are monitoring turbidity and water temperatures in and around the port using IoT/IIot sensors and the OSIsoft PI historian.

Recommended profile(s): Public
