You can add just about anything to your dashboard. You can even add text (static or dynamic), links and images to your Visual KPI dashboard.
These dashboard elements are called widgets. Visual KPI allows you to create a widget that can sit anywhere on your Visual KPI dashboard. And just like other Visual KPI objects on your dashboard, you can move and resize text and image widgets as you customize your dashboard.
In the example below, the UI.Vision logo and the mask reminder are both custom widgets:
Use the Customize Dashboard option under the gear icon () in the upper right to add custom widgets to your dashboard, or to customize your dashboard in other ways.
Add Text Block Widget
The Text Block Widget allows you to add any text you choose to your dashboard.
- In the Dashboard Properties panel, click Add Text Block Widget.
- In the New Text Block panel that opens, customize your new dashboard widget.
Add a static text block
A static text block displays only the text you enter.
- Add a Label for the text block (optional). This will appear on your dashboard first in the block
- Type your text in the Text field. If you want to show something from a data source here, see the section below.
- Select Text Alignment and Text Size. (Note: Text Alignment refers to the alignment inside the widget.)
- Select a background color for the actual widget. You can also choose a transparent background.
- Click Add.
Add a dynamic text block
A dynamic text block displays information based on a data source.
- Add a Label for the text block (optional, but recommended).
- Enter a Lookup in the Text field. This can be from any interface (tags, parameters, etc.), and can also include functions.
- Use the drop-down menu to select a data source in the Text Interface field.
- Select Text Alignment and Text Size. (Note: Text Alignment refers to the alignment inside the widget.)
- Select a background color for the actual widget. You can also choose a transparent background.
- Click Add.
The new Text Block Widget is added at the top of the dashboard. You’ll see it appear immediately in the left panel where you customize your dashboard using drag-and-drop.
You can move your new widget and change its size, just like you would any other element on the dashboard.
Don’t forget to SAVE by clicking the green checkmark or the green Save button below the customizer.
Add Image Block Widget
The Image Block Widget adds an uploaded image to the dashboard.
- In the Dashboard Properties panel, click Add Image Block Widget.
- In the New Image Block panel that opens, customize your new dashboard widget.
- Upload an image.
- Set the Image Alignment. (Note: Image Alignment refers to the alignment inside the widget.)
- Select a background color for the actual widget, or leave it transparent.
- Click Add.
Now, everything works the same as the Text Block Widget. You can move and resize the widget in the customizer to your left.
Don’t forget to SAVE.
