Configure Log Level Settings for Visual KPI Instances

The Visual KPI Server logs events to the Transpara event log in the Windows Event Journal.

You can use Visual KPI Server Manager to change the level of detail included in the Event Journal. You just need to configure the logging settings for Visual KPI instances and/or for individual Visual KPI Server components.

Note: The Log Level Settings are universal and affect all sub-directories. This means that if you change the setting on the VisualKPI virtual directory, all sub-virtual directory settings also change, with one exception: If a sub-virtual directory has already been modified from its default setting, then it will not be updated by the change.

Example: You configure the Log Level setting on the VisualKPI virtual directory to Moderate and the Log Level setting for the WebEditor virtual directory to ErrorsOnly. If you then change the Log Level setting on the VisualKPI virtual directory to Full, the Log Level setting on the WebEditor virtual directory will keep its ErrorsOnly setting.

To configure the Log Level Settings:

  • Open Visual KPI Server Manager.
  • Select the component on which you want to change the Log Level settings.
  • Under Visual KPI Instance Logging Settings, click the pull-down menu and select the appropriate Log Level:Error Log Level
  • Repeat the steps for each component that requires a change to the Log Level settings.
